Missionary Spotlight: Rev. Sardar and Anila Din
Westminster Biblical Missions, Inc. - Lahore, Pakistan - wbminc.org
SLPC supports missionary endeavors in both the U.S. and around the globe. We support Rev. Sardar Din and his wife, Anila. They minister in Lahore, Pakistan.
Sardar Ahmed Din became a Christian when he was a small illiterate boy, living in a village in Pakistan, through the witness of American Presbyterian missionaries. The missionary program provided his early education, as well as challenging him to dedicate his life to Christian service. Over forty years ago, he founded a Reformed Church named, The Bible-Believing Lahore Church Council, Lahore (BBLCCL). Today the Council has grown to nearly fifty congregations in Lahore, Faisalabad, and Islamabad with approximately forty pastors. The pastors received their training for the ministry at the Presbyterian Theological Seminary that Sardar oversees. As an ordained minister, Rev. Din has held important administrative positions in both the church and seminary, and has taught a number of subjects. He has also translated Palmer’s “Five Points of Calvinism”, and A. W. Pink’s “The Attributes of God”, into the Urdu language. Currently, he has a Sunday morning Bible Study with as many as 150 people attending. He also pastors folks who meet at the seminary.
A wonderful work of Pastor Sardar Din that has had a tremendous impact for Christ is his consistent reading of the Bible each morning, over a loudspeaker that projects into the surrounding area. One day he was sick and unable to read that particular morning. Local Muslim farmers and shopkeepers made a point of coming up to the seminary students to ask why he wasn’t preaching. When they heard the reason, they said that Sardar needed to preach whether he was sick or well!
In order to train the many illiterate people in the area, there are about 35 translation centers where pastors teach them to read and write, using the Urdu translation of the Bible. There is also a great need to provide a Christian education to the children who are living in poverty. This is so they can be taught the Scriptures and be able to read their own Bible in the Urdu language. The BBLCCL has five Calvin’s Academies with a total enrollment of nearly 22,600 students. Anila, Sardar”s wife, also has a sewing program where she teaches women and young girls the skills of a seamstress to assist with their families’ financial needs. The Lord has blessed the BBLCCL with two medical clinics, each with a doctor, nurse, and pharmacist, to meet the medical needs of these communities.
Over the years Rev. Sardar Din has made many sacrifices. He has even risked his life seeking to help fellow Christians in Pakistan. It is his desire, together with Anila, to spend their remaining years building the Kingdom of Jesus Christ in their native land of Pakistan.
Pray that Sardar’s daily preaching, and that the Bible Literacy Centers would draw many Muslims to Christ. Pray too, for Sardar and Anila’s continuing strength and good health as they teach, serve in the clinic, and oversee a number of other ministries.
