Adult Sunday School

In our non-stop multimedia world, all of us are constantly bombarded with truth and lies about how to live. Where do we discern the truth from error? The Bible contains the answers and studying its truths together is a crucial component of the Christian faith. This fall SLPC is offering three adult classes:

The Book of Hebrews – Bill Clark in Fellowship Hall

This class continues last year's in-depth exploration of the Epistle to the Hebrews which focuses on Jesus as the clearest, fullest, and ultimate revelation of God, and how that makes him worthy of our total trust and devotion. In addition to its famous Chapter 11 on the heroes of faith, Hebrews provides the framework for understanding how the Old and New Testaments present a single, consistent story of the plan of salvation. The goal of the class is for each participant to come away with a deeper understanding of what Jesus has done for us and what that means for us as we live our daily lives.

Marriage & Parenting (MAP) – team led by Mark & Shannon Schreiber in Conference Room

This year MAP focuses on parenting with a study of Julie Lowe’s Childproof: Parenting by Faith Not Formula. As an experienced counselor of children and families, Julie Lowe uses Scripture and biblical wisdom to teach parents how to know their children and specifically love them with the love of Christ. Join parents of all ages and stages from our church community to be encouraged as we seek God's wisdom in raising our children.

Christian Discipleship – Pastor Rick in Room 7

Someone once said about our times: “Today, everybody is spiritual, but few are changed.” What We Believe: Essentials of the Christian Faith is an important class on the essential beliefs of Christianity and how the gospel dramatically changes our lives! Using Sinclair Ferguson’s The Christian Life: A Doctrinal Introduction the class will cover key biblical themes such as grace, faith, repentance, new birth and assurance with clarity and contagious enthusiasm. “Christian doctrines are life-shaping,” explains the author, because “they show us the God we worship.”

Youth Sunday School -- This year, we will have two Sunday School classes for students: 6-8th grade will meet in Classroom 8 for a study On the Gospel of John, and 9-12th graders will meet in Classroom 9 and the prayer room in the back of the sanctuary for discipleship groups.

Children's Sunday School

Sunday school for children started on September 7. Children aged 2- 5th grade will have programming and classes at both the 10:00 Sunday School time and the 11:00 service. There will also be nursery care available for babies under 2 years of age for both those times. More information will be sent home directly to parents. If you do not believe you are on the email list already, please contact Joni at jmindrebo@slpca.org.
