Girls Doing Good for God's Glory
by Becki Marshall, Women's Ministry Director
“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who belong to the family of faith.” Galatians 6:13
In recent months several opportunities to serve, encourage, and strengthen the SLPC family of faith have been accomplished… for the good of many and the glory of God. Organized by women within the church, a fresh new spirit of generosity and friendship is growing to meet the needs of missions, new moms, and meaningful fellowship.
Take a look (and listen) to these snapshots and interviews about, for, and by the women of SLPC whose aim is to promote gracious giving, intentional gatherings, and good ole’ fun… for the glory of God.

What's Up with W.H.A.T.?
If you have been seeking something to do and somewhere to go with some grown-up girls from SLPC, then W.H.A.T. is what you are looking for!
What is W.H.A.T.?
The name and mission of this newly formed friend group is: Women’s Happenings About Town and their goal is to meet new friends and go places together. It is not a Bible Study or a prayer group but these ladies DO share a heart-felt desire to go deeper in fellowship and grow stronger in their relationships with Jesus, as they meet for purposeful conversation and social outings.
When and where does W.H.A.T. meet?
Quarterly gatherings have occurred in homes, a movie theater, and more recently, a road trip was taken to Winterthur’s historic DuPont Estate and holiday home display. About 25 very happy women attended. More outings are under consideration for the coming year.
Why W.H.A.T.?
For many women (especially singles) planning a social event can be difficult but coming alongside a group creates opportunities to meet others instead of going or eating alone. Following a women’s luncheon at SLPC last June, several ladies decided to do something to fill their ‘common thread’ desire for spiritual support, mutual encouragement, and FUN!
Who to contact?
Diane Kuhn and Ramona Costello welcome your interest, inquiries, and presence as they plan for W.H.A.T. in 2023. For more information, call Diane Kuhn: 484-343-6454.
So… WHAT are you waiting for?
Artful Women Advent Marketplace
Lastly, but not least, I want to ‘show-n-tell’ what ordinary women can do for the good of many when they combine their gifts of artistry, time, and generosity.
On the evening of December 5th, 2022, over 120 women gathered at the McKeaney Hillside Barn to showcase the work of fourteen local artists, authors, and crafters with the aim of raising awareness and financial support for Pamoza International. Over $1,000 was collected for the successfully launched tailoring project, now employing several women from the Zowe community in Malawi.
Also, plenty of merchandise was sold by the vendors, enabling them to make contributions to their favorite charities and ministries around the world: The Jr. Diabetes Foundation, Eden Jewelry (thisiseden.jewelry) designed by young women freed from sex trafficking in South-East Asia, a local pet rescue organization, and Women Doing Well.

As we begin a new year I hope these stories and snapshots of our sisters in Christ… ‘girls doing good’… inspire all of us to keep looking for opportunities to do good to all.
“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of Jesus…” Colossians 3:17
