Volunteering at Camp!
One of the most impactful ways to serve at Camp Treasure Island is by signing up to serve as a volunteer. As a volunteer, you not only get to spread the good news of the gospel through your words but through a fun filled week with songs, games, crafts, and so much more. It takes our entire community to make this evangelical outreach a success. Please see below the many ways that you can step into the awesome ministry that God started over 30 years ago!

- Group Counselors: Together, 2 group counselors supervise a group of up to 12 campers, leading the group to each area of camp throughout the morning! This special role at camp is at the heart of camp as all counselors showcase Christ through their actions, through worship, and being a friend to the camper. Group counselors have a special place in the hearts of campers, who often return to camp as counselors themselves because of the impact of seeing the gospel in action.
- Craft Counselors: A craft counselor mans the craft table, leading each incoming group of campers through the steps of the craft for each day. This labor of love does not go unnoticed as campers look forward to getting their hands covered in paint and all the fun the craft brings. You don’t have to be crafty to serve in this role, just have a heart for serving the Lord as you complete a craft with excited campers.
- Games Counselors: Games counselors are the highlight of all the fun and crazy wackiness of camp. From leading games like Mad Hatter, human foosball and getting EVERYONE wet on WATER DAY, a games counselor mans different game stations, teaching the rules of the game to each incoming group of campers.
- Worship team: Under the direction of David Calamaro, our worship team starts off by putting our campers and counselors eyes and hearts on Jesus. Our goal at CTI is the whole gospel for every child, showcased in a fun way and our worship team does this just right by setting the tone of praise throughout all of camp!
- Kitchen Staff: Not to be outdone by other counselors, but the unique role of our kitchen staff keeps our campers hydrated and moving as they provide snacks and beverages to our campers. We all know that feeding kids can also lead to an overabundance of joy!
- Registration Staff: A registration counselor not only staffs the registration tables in front of the church but is a smiling face and welcome to new and old campers. Handing out name tags and setting each camper on their way to enjoy a spectacular day is only the beginning of the day for this staff as they continue their day in helping where aid is needed and return at the end of the day to help dismiss the campers safely back to their parents.
- Office Staff: Helping the flow of camp, our office staff help with copies, replace group lists for group counselors and make themselves familiar and available for all things camp. These wonderful helping hands keep all of CTI running smoothly so that everyone can return the next day with everything they need.
- Nursery Staff: Our nursery staff are just as busy as our group counselors, providing hands-on fun and activities for our littlest campers called “diamonds”. These campers are the children of all staff who are still in training to be campers when they become of age.
- Parking Staff: One of the first faces seen at camp, our parking staff help manage the flow of traffic and welcome children to the amazing day that they have ahead of them. These staff also serve a double role at camp as once they are finished with the morning welcome, step right into being a counselor for groups, crafts, or games.
- Photography Staff: What would CTI be without it’s pictures. Our photographers capture the joy of camp as each day brings something unique and special to capture and celebrate. Our photographers skills are then highlighted at our Friday night closing program as families of campers come to see a preview of what our amazing week was like through a slide show of all the amazing pictures!
All graduated campers are invited back to serve as camp volunteers, and are welcome to stay for a lifetime. Hearts willing to serve where needed at camp are very valued and those wanting to staff the camp as volunteer counselors can simply email the church office (office@slpca.org) for an application.
